In November 2013, at the UNFCCC, global leaders discussed climate change and specifically Gender in relation to that. At a side event at Warsaw University, Ibrahim Thiaw, UNEP Deputy Executive Director and Assistant-Secretary-General of the United Nations joined our colleagues at the UN Sustainable Development Education Caucus.
The UN Sustainable Development Education Caucus is in Warsaw this week at the UNFCCC to participate in the historic conference on Gender and Climate Change. ArtDialogue is co-sponsoring a panel discussion at the University of Warsaw on Saturday, November 16, 2013, with many other dedicated institutions like UNEP, IUCN, UNDP, WEEC, and Conservation for the Oceans.
On behalf of The Permanent Secretariat of the World Environmental Education Congress, and a team of expert panelists, UN SD Education Caucus – Climate Change invites you to attend a side event to examine Climate Action: Gender Equity – Environmental Education – Governance. The side event will take place on Saturday, 16 November 2013 with registration and refreshments from 9:00 am – 10:00 am, the moderated panel from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Palac Tyszkiewiczów on the University of Warsaw campus, University of Warsaw (map below).

In response to the 2012 COP 18 Decision on Gender Equity and the COP 18 adoption of the Doha work program for Article 6 (Education) of the Convention, the purpose of the event is to generate insights and recommendations using a moderated panel format with panelists sharing insights, raising questions, sharing recommendations in response to the nexus of climate action: gender equity - environmental education - governance". From the event's insights, we will further develop the briefing to be submitted to the Secretariat and relevant Parties, the Global Gender and Climate Alliance and constituency, and through communications with our various global networks.
